Seeking Advice from Grade 4 Students

As many of you know, this is my last year at ISM.  Next year, I’ll be moving to Singapore and will be a grade 4 teacher.  I’m very much looking forward to having my own class again.  I have never taught grade 4 so I’m looking for some advice from the grade 4 students and teachers at ISM.  I would REALLY appreciate you taking the time to answer a few of my questions.  Use the Google Form below and remember to press submit at the bottom of the form.

 

Creating the What I am Video with Ms. Bo’s Class

Below is a video that I helped Ms. Bo’s class make for the end of the school year. The students in this class loved the video of Will.i.am singing “What I Am”. This was created by Sesame Street for their Season opener last year. It has a great message!

So you might be wondering how we did this. First we divided the original video into sections. Each student came up with a special word to describe themselves. Then we used Photobooth to play the section of original video and record the “with” Will.i.am. We pieced it together using iMovie. Once we had all of the video, the next step was the audio. In Garage band, we imported the original song and then recorded the students’ voices. We needed to do some splitting of the tracks so we could control the volume. We did this for each of the four sections of the song. Once the editing was completed, we exported it and then added it to the iMovie. We had to do our best to match the music to the video. It isn’t perfect but it is pretty close.
